The Band Constable that threw himself into a burning home with no regard for his own safety in an attempt to save two children has been honoured by the St.Theresa Point RCMP detachment. Band Constable Mason received a certificate of recognition for bravery as well as a painting for his heroic actions. In January of 2011 B/Cst Mason rescued a 2-year old from her flame engulfed home as well as a 2-month old baby who succumbed to her injuries later at the local nursing station. B/Cst Mason and another local cut through a wall using a chainsaw to get to the baby. The presentation was held at the St.Theresa Point band office.
