RD Parker senior basketball teams close up their seasons

The RD Parker Collegiate Trojans senior girls’ basketball team picked up wins in all three of their games this past weekend and clinched the Manitoba High School Athletics Association AAA Provincial Championship. In their first game, RDPC demolished the Sanford Collegiate Sabres by a score of 83-28. Their next game went into overtime and saw Caitlin Fennell rack up 8 of the Trojans’ 12 OT points to help secure the win with a 70-61 final over Faith Academy. And in the final, their winning streak continued as the Spartans took the victory over the U of W Wesmen 85-59, taking the Provincial banner for the second year in a row.

The Trojan senior boys were not as lucky, losing their first game in a tight 64-56 final to Winnipeg’s Linden Christian School. Their first matchup in the consolation bracket had them facing Sanford and walking away with a 69-56 victory. They would face off against the #4 Neelin Spartans out of Brandon in their last game of the season, where Matthew Kaspick scored a career high 27 points to help the Trojans win 69-57.
